Initial ideas feedback

As we decided to use Empire magazine as the magazine for our front cover, we showed some rough ideas to members of the class so we could recieve feedback that would help us to improve our final design. Many of the class said they liked the picture on my poster as it looked typical of a proffessional horror film poster. However, they also stated that although my font worked well, it needs to be made bolder, as it does not stand off the page enough, also the billing block needs to be improved as it is a bit plain at the moment.

Second Ancillary Task

For our second ancillary task we have decided to create a front cover for a film magazine. We will create our front cover for Empire magazine as it is a well established film magazine and we believe it would give our front cover a far more professional finish opposed to creating our own magazine from scratch. Although the font for Empire is sometimes different, the layout of their front cover's such as the title, where it is layed out on the page and the pictures of actors always works very well and for those reasons is why we have decided to use Empire for our magazine front cover.

Examples of horror film posters

Audience feedback

1. Mother
My mum said that our horror film trailer was well presented. She said that our idea of a killer with a plain white face was very original and that she especially liked the shot of me running away in the background, with the Smokey cartridges in the foreground. She also said that the compositions between each shots worked very well as they were all very smooth. She said that we needed to change the font as it didn’t really work with the genre of our film.

2. Father
My dad especially liked the final few shots of our trailer, where the camera is a point of view shot of me fading in and out of consciousness with Jamie walking towards me. He said it was a typical horror film shot and would really encourage the audience to watch the film. He said some of the shots could have been slightly better filmed as they were a little bit shaky.

3. Brother
My brother liked our trailer in particular the music as he thought that it worked well with the footage. He liked the idea of our killer wearing a suit and a mask as it was unique from other horror films he had seen. He said that the lighting needed some improvement as it was a bit too bright for a horror film.

4. Sister
My sister thought that the trailer was presented very well and she really liked the panning shots, such as the one which pans across the meadow as she said it really set the scene. She also liked that we had filmed it in a very rural area as she thought it was different.

5. Sister
My other sister really liked the very end shot, which shows the title of our film. She thought it looked very professional, however, she said that the trailer would have been more effective if we had filmed in more locations, to give the trailer some variety.
